    • CURTIS -- Stanley Laverne Thomsen, 83, died Thursday (Aug. 24, 2006) in Sutherland.

      He was born on Dec. 6, 1922, at Norman to Chris and Maggie (Steffensen) Thomsen.

      On June 2, 1956, he married Mary Anne Stasch at Nenzel.

      He was a life-long resident of the Curtis area. He was a retired farmer who also did custodial work at the elementary and high school in Curtis.

      He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church of Curtis.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann in August 1975; and a sister, Norma Awtry.

      Survivors include four sons, Mike and wife, Catalina Thomsen of Madison, Wis., Mark Thomsen of Denver, Colo., Chris Thomsen of Cherokee, Okla., and Myron Thomsen of North Platte; a sister, Katherine and husband, Grover Cole of Kinsley, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

      Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Curtis, with the Rev. Ferdinand Boehme officiating. Burial will be at the Curtis Cemetery.

      Visitation is Sunday from 1-5 p.m. at Blase -- Wetzel -- Strauser Memorial Chapel in Curtis.
