Major Maurice J. Fosse 1920-2012
MESA, Ariz. — Maurice Jerome Fosse, 91, U.S. Army (ret.), passed away Aug. 21 in Mesa, Ariz.
Services were Aug. 24 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery in Chandler, Ariz., with full military rites.
Major Fosse was born Nov. 11, 1920, in Freedom Township, to Harold and Sadie (Friestad) Fosse.
Maurice was a career officer with the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of major. He visited Illinois often.
He is survived by a sister, Monica Y. Howell, of Olympia, Wash., a brother, William H. (Ruth) Fosse of Evansville, Ind., and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Sadie Fosse; sisters, Kathleen A. (Melvin) Holm, Marilynn A. (John) Smith, Phyllis E. (Paul) Bohannon and Barbara Jean Fosse in infancy; a niece, Mary E. (Holm) Kennedy-Thompson; a nephew, James A. Bohannon; and a nephew's wife, Barbara A. Bohannon.
Memorials may be directed to the Veterans Home in La Salle.
