  Mary Louise Schoeberlein Catonsville Times (MD) 20 February 2008 (Wednesday) Mary Louise (Kendrick Steinbock) Schoeberlein died in her sleep in her Catonsville home on Feb. 2, 2008. She was 90. One of six children, Mrs. Schoeberlein was born in Mobile, Ala., on July 10, 1917, to Richards Kendrick and Evelyn Bartee. During World War II, she worked at Union Memorial Hospital as a Red Cross nurse's aide. Later in her life, Mrs. Schoeberlein was an accountant. She lived in Catonsville for more than 50 years and was extremely active in the community. Mrs. Schoeberlein served on local, county and state PTA boards. As a Cub Scout den mother, she once took 12 boys on a three-day trip to New York, which she considered the highlight of her Scouting career. Mrs. Schoeberlein led her den in numerous Fourth of July parades and chaired the father-son banquet three times. In addition to leading a Girl Scout troop, she volunteered as district chairwoman and organized the first cookie sale for the West District. For many years, Mrs. Schoeberlein served as treasurer for the Catonsville Woman's Club, chaired many committees and assisted in the Swap Shop. She volunteered at Deaton Medical Center and at the Maryland Science Center. Mrs. Schoeberlein, a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, oversaw several mother-daughter banquets, once made 60 children's choir and 30 acolyte robes, helped on area and district Lutheran Church Women boards and was secretary to the state board. Mrs. Schoeberlein also enjoyed traveling and made several trips abroad, sometimes accompanied by her grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Steinbock Jr. and William Schoeberlein. Surviving relatives include C. Richards Steinbock of Annapolis, her son; daughters Karen Nedzel with spouse Michael of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and Joanne Schoeberlein of Westminster; grandsons Andrew and Stephen Nedzel of Chicago and Benjamin Steinbock with Esther of Washington. On Feb. 9, a memorial service was conducted in Our lady of the Angels Chapel at the Charlestown retirement community. A reception followed at the City Lights cafe. A family interment will take place in Loudon Park Cemetery. Donations in Mrs. Schoeberlein's name may be directed to Christ Lutheran Church, 700 S.
