Alvin "Al" Barwig a 22-year resident of Wheaton Alvin "Al" Barwig passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012. He was born in Chicago on May 17, 1928, and raised in Belvidere, Ill. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois. Al was a loyal employee of the M&M Mars Plant of Chicago for 37 years and a member of the Des Plaines Elks Club Lodge 1526. He enjoyed music, golfing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; his children, Glenn (Monica), Linda (Robert) Burkhardt and Karen (Larry) Spencer; his grandchildren, Emily, Jennifer and John Barwig, Lauren and Bobby Burkhardt, and Larry, Sarah, Julie and Ellen Spencer; and his brother-in-law, George Vesely. He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth. Visitation will be Friday, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton. A funeral home service will be Saturday, at 11 a.m. Interment will be private in Wheaton Cemetery.
