Catherine "Cathy" Lorrine Binder Aug. 28, 1938 ~ May 18, 2010 Resident of Walnut Creek Born in Ontario, Oregon, daughter of the late Johannus Koopman and Elna Koopman Back, and stepfather the late James Back. Cathy moved to San Francisco with her family in 1944, and was a 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School in San Francisco and a 1960 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in San Francisco. She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Ronald Edward Binder; son Paul Christian Binder and his fianc?e, Katherine Peters of San Ramon; brother Joseph Koopman and wife Ester; nephews Jon and Kevin and their families. Cathy retired from John Muir Medical Center after a 28 year career in post-surgical nursing. Cathy was most proud of her Danish heritage. She always enjoyed a large circle of friends, especially the yearly "Mothers- Daughters" luncheons with the girls from high school; and the ladies of "The Birthday Club" of Walnut Creek. Travel with her husband to foreign countries and cruising the oceans and water-ways of the world was always one of her great pleasures. A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 26th, at 11:30am at St. Mathews Lutheran Church, 339 Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek If you desire, donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Cathy's name to the John Muir Health Foundation - Walnut Creek Campus (925) 947-4449.
