  Celebration of Life Service for Margaret A. “Margie” Strickland will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Sarah Shanks and Mr. Gary Janssen officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Margaret Ann “Margie” Strickland, 61 years of age, of Republican City, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Harlan County Health System in Alma. Margie was born August 19, 1956 at Omaha, Nebraska, the eldest of three children of Clayton and Donna (Schroeder) Rossen. She received her education in El Cerrito, California, graduating from El Cerrito High School with the class of 1974. Following her education in California, she returned to Nebraska, where she focused her efforts on her three children: Christy, Richard and Alex. Margie was employed by Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege for 19 years, and most recently she was employed at The Island in Republican City, where many of the patrons were like her second family. Margie loved the outdoors, and animals were always a big part of her life. She was an avid Husker fan, and the time she spent with her family and friends was treasured throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Richard. She leaves to celebrate her life; her two children: daughter, Christy Dean of Lincoln, Nebraska; and son, Alex Strickland of Grand Island, Nebraska; ten grandchildren: Mackenzie, Danielle, Dallas, Maddie, Dayson, Maddox, Taylor, Tyler, Colby, and Jayden; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Larry Rossen and his wife, Janell of Gothenburg, Nebraska, and Matt Rossen of Hastings, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. There will be no visitation, or memorial book signing, the family is honoring Margie’s wish for cremation. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Margie’s honor and will be designated at a later date.
