He only showed up in 1883 which isn´t surprising as he immigrated to the USA in 1883. Difficult to read but he was 171.5 cm tall which is about 5.6 feet. As you can see then it is written in German. At that time this part of Denmark belonged to Germany/Prussia. |

Interesting is that he lived in Døstrup but his parents in Abel which in Danish will be Abild. Niels probably worked on a farm. At the confirmation he was 14½ years old - time to move away from home! |
