    • George Edward Olmstead, Jr., 76, of Wilton, NH, formerly of North Haven, died Monday (June 8, 1998) in Wilton after being stricken at home. He was the husband of the late Elvira Hanghoj Olmstead. Mr. Olmstead was born in Stamford, Nov. 25, 1921, son of the late George and Jessie Chavelle Olmstead. He lived in Wilton for over a year, moving from North Haven, where he lived for 20 years. He worked for over 50 years at G&O Manufacturing in New Haven, now part of the Allen Group. He was general foreman at the time of his retirement. He was a member of Pilgrim's Harbor Golf Course in Wallingford, and was the Club Open Champion in 1996. He leaves daughters, Elizabeth Valvo of Bristol, Alison Kaladish of Wilton, NH, Heidi W. Olmstead of Mancheste r; a sister, Louise Olmstead of Wethersfield; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lauren Willette. Graveside services will be at the Centerville Genetery, Saturday (June 20), 11 a.m. Friends may call at the Hawley Lincoln Memorial, 493 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, Friday (June 19), 5-8 p.m.
